I was really sad to hear Tony Hart had died. Hart Beat definitely helped nurture my artistic side from a very young age. I often tried to recreate his amazing projects (usually resulting in myself and the carpet covered in paint, glue and charcoal). He had a big influence on me when I was little. I would have sacrificed 10p-mix-ups to get one of my pictures in The Gallery.
I’d totally forgotten how cool the opening titles to Hart Beat were, and that he created the Blue Peter logo.
And he seemed to be a genuinely nice guy to boot.
