A few years ago my husband thought I was bonkers for buying the book, Sock Monkeys, 200 out of 1,863. It features beautiful photographs by Arne Svenson of vintage sock monkeys collected by Ron Warren.
Since then of course, you find the little critters everywhere, from birthday cards to calendars. (It’s that love-hate thing of finding something really cool, then it becoming not so cool as everyone else realises it’s cool. But I still think they’re cool.)
We even named our short lived but quite successful pub quiz team “the sock monkeys”, returning each completed question sheet with a little biro sketch of a new monkey each week. The quiz master loved us. Of course he did.
Point being, I found an amazingly cute monkey of the sock variety on Etsy. This particular shop owner may have also persuaded me towards the bunny variant.
